Diego Armando Maradona fue la estrella durante la rueda de prensa en videoconferencia internacional con la que Cuatro televisión ha anunciado el 'fichaje' del ex jugador argentino como comentarista de la cadena para los partidos del próximo Mundial de Alemania. El argentino, en apenas 40 minutos de preguntas, habló claro y despachó innumerables temas de interés sobre el fútbol y su persona. El Mundial, en mente: "España está en el lote de aspirantes para pelear con Brasil".
Veinte años después de su exhibición en México 86, Maradona guarda en su mirada la magia con la que hechizó al planeta fútbol. Sus movimientos ahora son de una estrella que lo ha hecho todo -o casi-, y la misma tranquilidad con la que antes driblaba rivales le sirve ahora para que su personaje pose ante las cámaras, ante los flashes. El tiempo parece haberse congelado.
Y eso que a primera vista cuesta reconocer al Maradona jugador, al semidios que dominó el balón. De cerca, no se nota su pequeña talla. La cohorte de fotógrafos, la escenografía del lugar, todo, parece llevarle en volandas; su figura parece flotar entre las peticiones de una mirada, una sonrisa, un gesto. Pero el gesto se hace esperar. El 'Diego' aparece serio, ligeramente ausente, reciente aún el largo viaje. Con su dedo meñique de la mano izquierda entablillado, dos relojes, uno en cada muñeca, y una camiseta negra de algodón, con un balón estampado justo encima del corazón.
A su derecha, Elena Sánchez, directora de contenidos de la cadena televisiva Cuatro, y la izquierda, Paco González, conocido periodista y presentador del programa Maracaná 06, de la misma cadena. Ellos eran los encargados de presentar el 'fichaje' del ex jugador como comentarista de la televisión para este próximo Mundial, así como el anuncio del inicio de la grabación de un documental sobre su vida. El interés, sin embargo, estaba en conocer las siempre interesantes opiniones del astro en relación a todo lo tocante al deporte rey.
"Brasil, un escalón por encima; España, en el lote de aspirantes"
Y el primer tema, de fulgurante actualidad, es el Mundial. El 'Pelusa' se reafirmó en su opinión de que Brasil está un escalón por encima del resto: "Sin ninguna duda, Argentina y España están un escalón abajo que Brasil pero están en el lote que puede llegar a pelear el campeonato, junto con Alemania, Holanda, Italia, Inglaterra, etc. Brasil tiene un poderío impresionante, pero primero hay que ganarla, es el favorito número uno pero cuidado con el resto".
Del poderío de la 'canarinha,' Maradona se queda con Ronaldinho, al que lanzó muchas flores y al que apunta como un favorito para colocarse en el altar de la leyenda: "Para mí siempre es un placer verle jugar. Espero que después de este Mundial sea el mejor de todos los tiempos, pero después del Mundial. Este torneo que se lo deje a Messi. Ronaldinho está por catacultarse en el evento para ser el mejor. Pero en un torneo así no hay que pensar en uno sólo, hay que disfrutar con los que hay. Tener a Zidane, Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo... jugadores que alegran de ese modo hay que agradecerlo."
Por supuesto, interesaba conocer la opinión de Maradona sobre España: "Es una selección con mucha hambre, que tiene buenos nombres. Las experiencias vividas en los últimos mundiales de los jugadores que convocó Luis aragonés sirve para que sepan muy bien que el objetivo para España hoy no es sólo pasar a octavos y a cuartos de forma digna, sino pelear por los cuatro mejores." Sin embargo, el 10 rehusó vestirse con la camiseta nacional, tal como hiciera en un anuncio publicitario con la brasileña, aduciendo motivos comerciales.
Este de la camiseta fue una de las anécdotas de la presencia de Maradona. La atracción mediática de su persona es inmensa. Sala de prensa llena, aire acondicionado a tope, y azafatas desbordas por la petición de preguntas; apenas daba tiempo para llevar y traer el micrófono. "Diego, ¿estarías para jugar si Pekerman te llamara?". "Ja, ja, ja... toda Argentina e incluso mi familia han intentado convencerme, pero yo estoy bien así, pendiente de lo que haga la selección argentina, que tiene grandes jugadores. Yo me iré a Alemania con la televisión a ver el Mundial, y allí seré un aficionado argentino más".
"¿Agüero? Que lo compre ya el Atlético"
Sin embargo, en Alemania no verá al 'Kun' Agüero. El jugador de Independiente también recibió los halagos 'del Diego': "¿Agüero? Buff... un fenómeno, que lo compre ya el Atlético, porque si no se lo van a quitar. Que lo compre, porque está para explotar. Junto con Messi, son las dos apariciones más espectaculares del fútbol argentino de muchos años atrás". Seguro que si Maradona fuera el seleccionador le hubiera llevado; ¿será esto una realidad en los próximos años?: "De lo que me queda por hacer, me gustaría ser técnico de la selección argentina. Es algo que me ilusiona mucho, lucharé para serlo. Me encantaría poder compartir con los mejores jugadores una concentración o un gran torneo, transmitir mis conocimientos, etc. Sería como decirle a Dalma y a Giannina que papá volvió".
En realidad, 'papá' volvió hace dos años. Una insuficiencia cardíaca le tuvo al borde de la muerte. La cosa se complicó con una insuficiencia respiratoria, pero muchos pensaron que era la enésima consecuencia de su adicción a las drogas. Este miércoles, en Madrid, Maradona se puso serio al abordar el tema: "Hace dos años que no consumo. Para salir, me apoyé en mi familia, en mis hijas. Ellas fueron el 'click' que hizo que yo dejara de pensar en la cocaína. Yo me agarré mucho a Dios, pero no tuve ningún curandero, ninguna religión, yo no recurrí a nadie... mis dos dioses fueron Dalma y Giannina. Los doctores me trataron muy bien, pero si uno no tiene al lado a la familia, no puede salir".
"El fútbol es lo mío, no la televisión"
Por último, y ya en un tono más distendido, el astro habló sobre su experiencia televisiva, en el programa "La noche del 10", que se emite en su país pero que pronto Cuatro emitirá también en España: "El fútbol es lo mío. Yo empecé en la televisión en un momento de mi vida en el que quería demostrarme a mí mismo si podía hacerlo. Lo hice, estuve muy arropado por todos y eso hacía que ir cada semana al plató era como ir a jugar un partido cada lunes representando a mi país. Me divertía mucho, pero de estrella nada, lo mío pasa más por el fútbol que por la televisión". Esta última frase fue la última de sus grandes verdades durante la rueda de prensa.
ROBERTO CARLOS CONFIRMA NOTÍCIA DE CONVITE DO CHELSEA
O lateral-esquerdo Roberto Carlos confirmou nesta quarta-feira que o Chelsea lhe ofereceu um contrato de três anos, o que pode facilitar sua transferência para o clube, após dez anos de Real Madrid e três títulos da Liga dos Campeões, em 1998, 2000 e 2002.
Roberto Carlos tem mais um ano de contrato com a equipe espanhola, que lhe ofereceu renovação por mais uma temporada, proposta que ele considera inferior à dos ingleses. "A questão não é financeira, e sim em relação à duração do contrato e à minha motivação em continuar jogando", disse o jogador, que prometeu voltar a discutir o assunto com o Real, antes de chegar a uma conclusão.
"A oferta do Chelsea é boa. Espero ter uma resposta do Real, ou então vou procurar outra coisa", declarou o lateral, durante entrevista concedida antes do segundo treino da seleção brasileira na preparação para a Copa, em Weggis, na Suíça.

With the World Cup almost upon us, great clubs are desperate to buy the best players available before prices go through the roof

The World Cup gives players a chance to show off their talents
It is expected to be Fernando Torres. The number of scouts, coaches and managers scrambling for tickets for Leipzig on 14 June, Stuttgart five days later and Kaiserslautern on 23 June should indicate whether or not the 21-year-old Spanish striker is, indeed, the most sought-after player at next month's World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur tried to get him in January but found that £20m was not enough. At least another £10m should be added to that, especially if the Atletico Madrid captain lives up to his star billing. Torres, himself, knows the importance of the competition. Not just for the present but for the future.
"This World Cup is so important to me because I have to demonstrate that, even though I haven't played in Europe, I'm ready for this level," he says. "There is no better place to show the world what you are capable of. I know the rumours about my future are strong right now. I think it's because there's a World Cup coming when people always think about big transfers."
The signing of Torres, who will leave Spain if he leaves Atletico, is expected to be the biggest deal hammered out in Germany. Unsurprisingly, his rivals for that mantle will also be strikers. The names are easy to reel off. For Argentina there is Carlos Tevez - watched by Chelsea and coveted by Milan - and Hernan Crespo, who can leave Stamford Bridge, although Didier Drogba would love to beat him out the door. For Brazil, Adriano is unsettled at Internazionale and may seek a move while Ronaldo's future is even more uncertain at Real Madrid.
Then there is Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who always cuts a brooding, unsettled presence and will be even more so, given the current implosion of Italian football and the possible ramifications for Juventus. Cologne, meanwhile, need to cash in on Lucas Podolski before he walks away next summer for less than £1m, a 10th of what he is worth.
Chelsea certainly want Ukraine's captain, Andrei Shevchenko, who will probably give a decision on his future tomorrow, while, for the Netherlands, there are Dirk Kuyt and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Kuyt was also wanted by Spurs, has been looked at by Chelsea and, more recently, scouted several times by Newcastle United as Alan Shearer's replacement. Strong and quick, the Feyenoord captain was urged by the Dutch coach, Marco van Basten, to keep his options open until after Germany and is doing just that. He will cost around £12m.
Van Nistelrooy, also interesting Newcastle but, at present, not many others, will not be rushed into a decision over his future at Manchester United and will clearly use the tournament as a showcase for his talents. A strong showing and a bigger club may come in for him, although United had hoped for a quick sale. "Maybe this will benefit Holland," Van Basten said of his striker's predicament.
A similar argument is being put forward by Serbia & Montenegro for their giant Nikola Zigic, who stands 6ft 7in and is far more imposing than the bean-pole Peter Crouch. West Ham United wanted him but failed in January while Portsmouth are leading the current chase. Rumours persist that Arsenal may also intervene for the Red Star Belgrade striker, who is available for £7m and is destined for the Premiership.
Aston Villa's Milan Baros is unhappy and also looking for a strong display and a move which will probably take him away from England. Despite a £17m buyout clause in his contract Villa will struggle to attract bids of more than £7m no matter how well he performs. If he leaves, his strike partner, Jan Koller, a 33-year-old, also 6ft 7in, may arrive. He is available on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, having recovered from torn knee ligaments. The World Cup is a showcase for him, too.
But what is also clear is that many clubs have wised up to the dangers of buying after the tournament. More than ever they want to get their deals done early while fewer and fewer players are unknown quantities. Inflation is a fear. "I'd like to do all the business before the World Cup, but it is not always feasible," says David Gill, the chief executive of Manchester United, and it is a shared philosophy. "The sooner you do it, the better for the players concerned." And the buyer. Otherwise, and with a series of good performances, the price may become ridiculously bloated.
At the other end of the scale three English clubs are already bidding the £500,000 it will take to secure South Korean striker Ahn Jung-hwan from the German club Duisberg. His claim to fame was being sacked by Perugia after scoring the goal which knocked Italy out of the last World Cup.
English clubs are likely to be the most active. Already they contribute one in seven players who are at the tournament - unsurprisingly, Chelsea have the most with 16, one more than Arsenal and four more than Manchester United - while the recently announced new football broadcasting deals should give them even more financial muscle.
It is an old maxim of the Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, that players should not be bought on the back of major tournaments - a maxim he himself jettisoned in the last World Cup when he acquired the relatively unknown Gilberto Silva - and many other managers appear keen to test it in Germany.
"The market has become inflated because of a lack of numbers," says the Bolton Wanderers manager, Sam Allardyce, about the importance of being at the World Cup. "We're all fighting over a small amount of talent." He has tried to strike early with an £8m bid for Crystal Palace's Andrew Johnson while the United States right-back Steve Cherundolo is already said to have agreed a £1.4m move from Hanover 96.
The Wigan manager Paul Jewell, armed with a transfer kitty reputed to be worth at least £20m, will base himself in Cologne for 10 days and aims to take in six group stage matches. "We obviously can't compete with the big clubs trying to sign world-class stars, but we've already identified some very good players and we'll see what happens," he said.
Spurs' head coach, Martin Jol, will be in Berlin for a week while West Ham's Alan Pardew will watch a handful of group games and then fly in and out if certain players take his interest. Neil Warnock, the manager of newly promoted Sheffield United, says he will pay particular attention to the tournament's lesser-known nations. "We are going to keep a really close eye to things out there," he adds. "We'll especially watch the first-round games and some of the teams who people either didn't expect to qualify or are appearing for the first time. There are bound to be some really good players out there and the idea is to identify the ones we would stand a reasonable chance of getting. We're examining ways of making sure we can get the best out of the tournament."
Clearly, that means extra scrutiny of the African nations - represented by Ghana, Togo, Angola and Tunisia. Indeed, Portsmouth's Harry Redknapp has already scouted the veteran Tunisian striker Francileudo dos Santos Silva - a naturalised Brazilian - while the queue of scouts following Henri Michel's Ivory Coast team will be long indeed. For the Elephants there is full-back Arthur Boka, Marseilles' central defender Abdoulaye Meite - whose agent is keen on England - Kolo Touré's younger brother, Yaya, and the much-in-demand and powerful Didier Zokora, who may soon end up at the heart of a Premiership side's midfield. It helps that they are in the most challenging of groups.
There is a warning, however, delivered by Ghana's coach, Ratomir Dujkovic. He says of his players, of whom Derek Boateng and Sulley Muntari may attract interest: "If we play African teams, it is all about gaining prestige on a continental level. Against European teams, the players give their all, in the hope that a European club will sign them. The players suddenly perform with European-style tactical discipline because they know that otherwise they wouldn't be considered by the clubs. I'm not the first to say that poor discipline is the biggest problem in African football." Liverpool fans need only be reminded of El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao.
Of the more established nations much interest will centre on Spain's young squad. Scouts have earmarked the winger Joaquin, the striker David Villa and - particularly - the central defender Pablo, who wants to move to Italy or England. Similarly, the Swedes will be monitored for the displays of their goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson and the midfielder Kim Kallstrom - apparently interesting Spurs and West Ham - while Croatia's Darijo Srna and Niko Kranjcar are also targets for these shores.
Portugal's Simao Sabrosa and Petit are both being touted by their club, Benfica, for moves over here. Polish players will also be in demand, particularly in the Championship and in Scotland, while interest is being shown in the Americans DeMarcus Beasley, Josh Wolff and Clint Dempsey. A few clubs may finally take a punt on a Mexican, and Paraguay's Carlos Paredes could get the big move his talent appears to demand. England will hope it will not be on the back of how the midfielder performs against them.
Money is tight for some. John Wardle, the Manchester City chairman, says: "Stuart [Pearce, the manager] has not been told he has to sell to buy but he has got a little bit of money available and he is looking in his market place, at Bosmans, loans and small fees." Indeed, there are some interesting players to be acquired for "free" - including the Tunisia right-back Hatem Trabelsi, who is set to leave Ajax and was once strongly tracked by Arsenal, and the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who has left Bayern Munich.
But it will be the smallest, fourth-seeded nations which will provide the most fun. Aurtis Whitley, the 29-year-old Trinidad & Tobago midfielder, who was recently on trial at Portsmouth, sums up the mood of many. "It could be the break I've been waiting for," he says. "I have a good career but going abroad will be better, so it will be a huge opportunity to show what I can do."
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Premiership gets its first Iranian or Saudi Arabian.

He has tried to strike early with an £8m bid for Crystal Palace's Andrew Johnson while the United States right-back Steve Cherundolo is already said to have agreed a £1.4m move from Hanover 96.
The Wigan manager Paul Jewell, armed with a transfer kitty reputed to be worth at least £20m, will base himself in Cologne for 10 days and aims to take in six group stage matches. Clearly, that means extra scrutiny of the African nations - represented by Ghana, Togo, Angola and Tunisia. Indeed, Portsmouth's Harry Redknapp has already scouted the veteran Tunisian striker Francileudo dos Santos Silva - a naturalised Brazilian - while the queue of scouts following Henri Michel's Ivory Coast team will be long indeed. For the Elephants there is full-back Arthur Boka, Marseilles' central defender Abdoulaye Meite - whose agent is keen on England - Kolo Touré's younger brother, Yaya, and the much-in-demand and powerful Didier Zokora, who may soon end up at the heart of a Premiership side's midfield. It helps that they are in the most challenging of groups.
There is a warning, however, delivered by Ghana's coach, Ratomir Dujkovic. He says of his players, of whom Derek Boateng and Sulley Muntari may attract interest: "If we play African teams, it is all about gaining prestige on a continental level. Against European teams, the players give their all, in the hope that a European club will sign them. The players suddenly perform with European-style tactical discipline because they know that otherwise they wouldn't be considered by the clubs. I'm not the first to say that poor discipline is the biggest problem in African football." Liverpool fans need only be reminded of El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao.
Of the more established nations much interest will centre on Spain's young squad. Scouts have earmarked the winger Joaquin, the striker David Villa and - particularly - the central defender Pablo, who wants to move to Italy or England. Similarly, the Swedes will be monitored for the displays of their goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson and the midfielder Kim Kallstrom - apparently interesting Spurs and West Ham - while Croatia's Darijo Srna and Niko Kranjcar are also targets for these shores.
Portugal's Simao Sabrosa and Petit are both being touted by their club, Benfica, for moves over here. Polish players will also be in demand, particularly in the Championship and in Scotland, while interest is being shown in the Americans DeMarcus Beasley, Josh Wolff and Clint Dempsey. A few clubs may finally take a punt on a Mexican, and Paraguay's Carlos Paredes could get the big move his talent appears to demand. England will hope it will not be on the back of how the midfielder performs against them.
Money is tight for some. John Wardle, the Manchester City chairman, says: "Stuart [Pearce, the manager] has not been told he has to sell to buy but he has got a little bit of money available and he is looking in his market place, at Bosmans, loans and small fees." Indeed, there are some interesting players to be acquired for "free" - including the Tunisia right-back Hatem Trabelsi, who is set to leave Ajax and was once strongly tracked by Arsenal, and the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who has left Bayern Munich.
But it will be the smallest, fourth-seeded nations which will provide the most fun. Aurtis Whitley, the 29-year-old Trinidad & Tobago midfielder, who was recently on trial at Portsmouth, sums up the mood of many. "It could be the break I've been waiting for," he says. "I have a good career but going abroad will be better, so it will be a huge opportunity to show what I can do."
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Premiership gets its first Iranian or Saudi Arabian.

GENEBRA, Suíça - Uma das grandes preocupações do técnico Jürgen Klinsmann para a Copa é arrumar a defesa da seleção alemã. Para isso, ele colocou seu auxiliar Joachimm Löw para trabalhar diretamente o posicionamento tático e a saída de bola dos defensores.
O problema ficou evidente na vitória da seleção alemã no jogo-treino com o time suíço Servette, por 2 a 1, na terça-feira. “Cerca de 50% de nossos passes são de lado ou vão para trás. E quando o adversário tem tempo de se organizar defensivamente, aí fica difícil”, disse Löw, ao comentar a saída de jogo dos defensores.
Atualmente, os zagueiros alemães estão preocupados apenas em destruir e não em agir de forma construtiva, armando a saída de bola. “Queremos que a primeira ação seja mais profunda, não apenas um toque de lado ou, em último caso, de volta para o goleiro”, avisou Löw.
Segundo o auxiliar de Klinsmann, outros times têm um desempenho padrão na forma de atuação da defesa. Ele cita a Espanha, a Itália e a Holanda, que utilizam a mesma tática defensiva desde as categorias de base até a seleção principal. “Alguns países estão anos na nossa frente", admitiu.
Para Löw, o exemplo a ser seguido é o do Milan dos anos 90, com Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini e Rijkaard. A qualidade futebolística dos nossos esperanças não está em causa, em causa está a sua prestação nos últimos jogos (França e Servia), Agostinho têm muitas responsabilidades nestas duas derrotas, a sua capacidade de liderança, onde está?! A capacidade de passar a cada elemento dos onze que entram de inicio (e restantes) a sua tarefa, como forma de organizar jogo e delinear a estratégia a seguir, não basta colocar onze bons jogadores em campo, senão qualquer um de nos poderia desempenhar essa competência, o grupo português jogou grande parte do jogo com o coração, resultado do trabalho técnico que deixa a desejar, esperava mais deste grupo que têm capacidade para muito melhor.

A derrota dos Sub 21 demonstra a razão de scolari. Ele faz convocações que parecem discutíveis mas ele, que ganha, sabe que para vencer é preciso ter uma equipa e não uma salada de estrelas.
Se ainda era preciso tirar dúvidas, os jogadores e o treinador da selecção portuguesa devem ter ficado ontem com elas desfeitas: mais importante do que ter boas individualidades é ter uma boa equipa. E, nesse capítulo, Portugal foi claramente inferior.
Quase não se viu um automatismo, uma jogada estudada, um livre ou um canto bem marcados, jogou-se a passo. As escassas oportunidades foram desperdiçadas: as de Nani e de Hugo Almeida, escandalosas. Por estes dois jogos, só um jogador justificava a ida aos AA, precisamente Bruno Vale, que deve ir mais cedo para o estágio de Évora.
Os números dão bem conta da indigência futebolística dos sub21 portugueses: nem um golo em 180 minutos! Ou melhor: marcar, marcaram, mas na própria baliza.
A derrota dos sub-21 foi MERECIDA. os únicos a não merecerem esta derrota foram somente os portugueses que sempre acreitaram neste grupo de trabalho. Não vale a pena andarmos a fazer contas, pois se continuarmos a jogar desta forma é impossível.
Este Agostinho Oliveira, nem em sonhos tem o Know-How para liderar um escalão como a selecção de esperanças.
No primeiro jogo ficou bem demonstrado que ele, nem coragem nem ambição tem, pois a perder com a frança ao intervalo so teria (mesmo no inicio da segumda parte)de jogar com 3 centrais reforçar o meio campo adiantando. Juntava o Varela nas sobras, do HAlmeida, Nani e Quaresma nas alas, meireles como fazia no FCP (+junto aos centrais)Moutinho como fazia no SCP (mais junto aos atacantes e MFernandes no centro (como fazia no SLB).
H almeida e Varela como sempre jogaram no campeonato, com apoio na frente tanto no FCP como no V.Setúbal.
Agora o seleccionador não ve isto e ainda por cima inventa.
No jogo de ontem, e quando no 11 inicial constei que não estava o J.Moutinho previ o pior.

os nossos sub21 são aqueles que jogam no slb, scp, fcp e londres. se mudassem de clube caso do joao pereira já não servem para a selecção. quanto ao sistema tactico parece que jogam sobre carris, sempre a direito.
por ultimo,pretendiamos ganhar por 3-0 do mesmo modo como tinhamos perdido os jogos anteriores.
a mudança deve acontecer, as quintas dentro da selecção nacional devem acabar.

Veinte años después de su exhibición en México 86, Maradona guarda en su mirada la magia con la que hechizó al planeta fútbol. Sus movimientos ahora son de una estrella que lo ha hecho todo -o casi-, y la misma tranquilidad con la que antes driblaba rivales le sirve ahora para que su personaje pose ante las cámaras, ante los flashes. El tiempo parece haberse congelado.

"Diego, ¿estarías para jugar si Pekerman te llamara?". "Ja, ja, ja... toda Argentina e incluso mi familia han intentado convencerme, pero yo estoy bien así, pendiente de lo que haga la selección argentina, que tiene grandes jugadores. Yo me iré a Alemania con la televisión a ver el Mundial, y allí seré un aficionado argentino más".
"¿Agüero? Que lo compre ya el Atlético"
Sin embargo, en Alemania no verá al 'Kun' Agüero. El jugador de Independiente también recibió los halagos 'del Diego': "¿Agüero? Buff... un fenómeno, que lo compre ya el Atlético, porque si no se lo van a quitar. Que lo compre, porque está para explotar. Yo empecé en la televisión en un momento de mi vida en el que quería demostrarme a mí mismo si podía hacerlo. Lo hice, estuve muy arropado por todos y eso hacía que ir cada semana al plató era como ir a jugar un partido cada lunes representando a mi país. ROBERTO CARLOS CONFIRMA NOTÍCIA DE CONVITE DO CHELSEA
O lateral-esquerdo Roberto Carlos confirmou nesta quarta-feira que o Chelsea lhe ofereceu um contrato de três anos, o que pode facilitar sua transferência para o clube, após dez anos de Real Madrid e três títulos da Liga dos Campeões, em 1998, 2000 e 2002.
Roberto Carlos tem mais um ano de contrato com a equipe espanhola, que lhe ofereceu renovação por mais uma temporada, proposta que ele considera inferior à dos ingleses. "A questão não é financeira, e sim em relação à duração do contrato e à minha motivação em continuar jogando", disse o jogador, que prometeu voltar a discutir o assunto com o Real, antes de chegar a uma conclusão.
"A oferta do Chelsea é boa. Espero ter uma resposta do Real, ou então vou procurar outra coisa", declarou o lateral, durante entrevista concedida antes do segundo treino da seleção brasileira na preparação para a Copa, em Weggis, na Suíça.

Os nossos seleccionados nacionais principais têm todos os dias uma hora de visionamento de jogadas e jogadores dos adversários directos.
Scolari aproveita sempre para mostrar outros casos. Hoje mostrou casos dos Sub-21, particularmente 3 erros da defesa e 5 jogadas de golo perdidas.

With the World Cup almost upon us, great clubs are desperate to buy the best players available before prices go through the roof

The World Cup gives players a chance to show off their talents
It is expected to be Fernando Torres. The number of scouts, coaches and managers scrambling for tickets for Leipzig on 14 June, Stuttgart five days later and Kaiserslautern on 23 June should indicate whether or not the 21-year-old Spanish striker is, indeed, the most sought-after player at next month's World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur tried to get him in January but found that £20m was not enough. At least another £10m should be added to that, especially if the Atletico Madrid captain lives up to his star billing. Torres, himself, knows the importance of the competition. Not just for the present but for the future.
"This World Cup is so important to me because I have to demonstrate that, even though I haven't played in Europe, I'm ready for this level," he says. "There is no better place to show the world what you are capable of. I know the rumours about my future are strong right now. I think it's because there's a World Cup coming when people always think about big transfers."
The signing of Torres, who will leave Spain if he leaves Atletico, is expected to be the biggest deal hammered out in Germany. Unsurprisingly, his rivals for that mantle will also be strikers. The names are easy to reel off. For Argentina there is Carlos Tevez - watched by Chelsea and coveted by Milan - and Hernan Crespo, who can leave Stamford Bridge, although Didier Drogba would love to beat him out the door. For Brazil, Adriano is unsettled at Internazionale and may seek a move while Ronaldo's future is even more uncertain at Real Madrid.
Then there is Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who always cuts a brooding, unsettled presence and will be even more so, given the current implosion of Italian football and the possible ramifications for Juventus. Cologne, meanwhile, need to cash in on Lucas Podolski before he walks away next summer for less than £1m, a 10th of what he is worth.
Chelsea certainly want Ukraine's captain, Andrei Shevchenko, who will probably give a decision on his future tomorrow, while, for the Netherlands, there are Dirk Kuyt and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Kuyt was also wanted by Spurs, has been looked at by Chelsea and, more recently, scouted several times by Newcastle United as Alan Shearer's replacement. Strong and quick, the Feyenoord captain was urged by the Dutch coach, Marco van Basten, to keep his options open until after Germany and is doing just that. He will cost around £12m.
Van Nistelrooy, also interesting Newcastle but, at present, not many others, will not be rushed into a decision over his future at Manchester United and will clearly use the tournament as a showcase for his talents. A strong showing and a bigger club may come in for him, although United had hoped for a quick sale. "Maybe this will benefit Holland," Van Basten said of his striker's predicament.
A similar argument is being put forward by Serbia & Montenegro for their giant Nikola Zigic, who stands 6ft 7in and is far more imposing than the bean-pole Peter Crouch. West Ham United wanted him but failed in January while Portsmouth are leading the current chase. Rumours persist that Arsenal may also intervene for the Red Star Belgrade striker, who is available for £7m and is destined for the Premiership.
Aston Villa's Milan Baros is unhappy and also looking for a strong display and a move which will probably take him away from England. Despite a £17m buyout clause in his contract Villa will struggle to attract bids of more than £7m no matter how well he performs. If he leaves, his strike partner, Jan Koller, a 33-year-old, also 6ft 7in, may arrive. He is available on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, having recovered from torn knee ligaments. The World Cup is a showcase for him, too.
But what is also clear is that many clubs have wised up to the dangers of buying after the tournament. More than ever they want to get their deals done early while fewer and fewer players are unknown quantities. Inflation is a fear. "I'd like to do all the business before the World Cup, but it is not always feasible," says David Gill, the chief executive of Manchester United, and it is a shared philosophy. "The sooner you do it, the better for the players concerned." And the buyer. Otherwise, and with a series of good performances, the price may become ridiculously bloated.
At the other end of the scale three English clubs are already bidding the £500,000 it will take to secure South Korean striker Ahn Jung-hwan from the German club Duisberg. His claim to fame was being sacked by Perugia after scoring the goal which knocked Italy out of the last World Cup.
English clubs are likely to be the most active. Already they contribute one in seven players who are at the tournament - unsurprisingly, Chelsea have the most with 16, one more than Arsenal and four more than Manchester United - while the recently announced new football broadcasting deals should give them even more financial muscle.
It is an old maxim of the Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, that players should not be bought on the back of major tournaments - a maxim he himself jettisoned in the last World Cup when he acquired the relatively unknown Gilberto Silva - and many other managers appear keen to test it in Germany.
"The market has become inflated because of a lack of numbers," says the Bolton Wanderers manager, Sam Allardyce, about the importance of being at the World Cup. "We're all fighting over a small amount of talent." He has tried to strike early with an £8m bid for Crystal Palace's Andrew Johnson while the United States right-back Steve Cherundolo is already said to have agreed a £1.4m move from Hanover 96.
The Wigan manager Paul Jewell, armed with a transfer kitty reputed to be worth at least £20m, will base himself in Cologne for 10 days and aims to take in six group stage matches. "We obviously can't compete with the big clubs trying to sign world-class stars, but we've already identified some very good players and we'll see what happens," he said.
Spurs' head coach, Martin Jol, will be in Berlin for a week while West Ham's Alan Pardew will watch a handful of group games and then fly in and out if certain players take his interest. Neil Warnock, the manager of newly promoted Sheffield United, says he will pay particular attention to the tournament's lesser-known nations. "We are going to keep a really close eye to things out there," he adds. "We'll especially watch the first-round games and some of the teams who people either didn't expect to qualify or are appearing for the first time. There are bound to be some really good players out there and the idea is to identify the ones we would stand a reasonable chance of getting. We're examining ways of making sure we can get the best out of the tournament."
Clearly, that means extra scrutiny of the African nations - represented by Ghana, Togo, Angola and Tunisia. Indeed, Portsmouth's Harry Redknapp has already scouted the veteran Tunisian striker Francileudo dos Santos Silva - a naturalised Brazilian - while the queue of scouts following Henri Michel's Ivory Coast team will be long indeed. For the Elephants there is full-back Arthur Boka, Marseilles' central defender Abdoulaye Meite - whose agent is keen on England - Kolo Touré's younger brother, Yaya, and the much-in-demand and powerful Didier Zokora, who may soon end up at the heart of a Premiership side's midfield. It helps that they are in the most challenging of groups.
There is a warning, however, delivered by Ghana's coach, Ratomir Dujkovic. He says of his players, of whom Derek Boateng and Sulley Muntari may attract interest: "If we play African teams, it is all about gaining prestige on a continental level. Against European teams, the players give their all, in the hope that a European club will sign them. The players suddenly perform with European-style tactical discipline because they know that otherwise they wouldn't be considered by the clubs. I'm not the first to say that poor discipline is the biggest problem in African football." Liverpool fans need only be reminded of El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao.
Of the more established nations much interest will centre on Spain's young squad. Scouts have earmarked the winger Joaquin, the striker David Villa and - particularly - the central defender Pablo, who wants to move to Italy or England. Similarly, the Swedes will be monitored for the displays of their goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson and the midfielder Kim Kallstrom - apparently interesting Spurs and West Ham - while Croatia's Darijo Srna and Niko Kranjcar are also targets for these shores.
Portugal's Simao Sabrosa and Petit are both being touted by their club, Benfica, for moves over here. Polish players will also be in demand, particularly in the Championship and in Scotland, while interest is being shown in the Americans DeMarcus Beasley, Josh Wolff and Clint Dempsey. A few clubs may finally take a punt on a Mexican, and Paraguay's Carlos Paredes could get the big move his talent appears to demand. England will hope it will not be on the back of how the midfielder performs against them.
Money is tight for some. John Wardle, the Manchester City chairman, says: "Stuart [Pearce, the manager] has not been told he has to sell to buy but he has got a little bit of money available and he is looking in his market place, at Bosmans, loans and small fees." Indeed, there are some interesting players to be acquired for "free" - including the Tunisia right-back Hatem Trabelsi, who is set to leave Ajax and was once strongly tracked by Arsenal, and the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who has left Bayern Munich.
But it will be the smallest, fourth-seeded nations which will provide the most fun. Aurtis Whitley, the 29-year-old Trinidad & Tobago midfielder, who was recently on trial at Portsmouth, sums up the mood of many. "It could be the break I've been waiting for," he says. "I have a good career but going abroad will be better, so it will be a huge opportunity to show what I can do."
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Premiership gets its first Iranian or Saudi Arabian.

England will hope it will not be on the back of how the midfielder performs against them.
Money is tight for some. John Wardle, the Manchester City chairman, says: "Stuart [Pearce, the manager] has not been told he has to sell to buy but he has got a little bit of money available and he is looking in his market place, at Bosmans, loans and small fees." Indeed, there are some interesting players to be acquired for "free" - including the Tunisia right-back Hatem Trabelsi, who is set to leave Ajax and was once strongly tracked by Arsenal, and the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, who has left Bayern Munich.
But it will be the smallest, fourth-seeded nations which will provide the most fun. El todopoderoso Roman Abramovich es quien no ve tan claro el traspaso de Roberto Carlos. Pese a la insistencia de su entrenador, el presidente del Chelsea no tiene claro que fichar al brasileño sea un acierto dado su rendimiento esta última temporada, su edad y alta ficha. Sólo falta el sí del presidente y también de Peter Kenyon, el director ejecutivo con poder en la política de fichajes, para hacer realidad un acuerdo que ya está muy avanzado entre el defensa y Jorge Mendes, representante del propio Mourinho que trasladó a Roberto Carlos el interés del entrenador para hacerse con sus servicios y quien ha negociado en nombre del defensa.

Na selecção portuguesa não há fumadores compulsivos mas, regra de Scolari, não se fuma.
Os 2 que são mais dados ao fumo não estão proibidos. Podem fu´mar, afastando-se por 5 min do local onde está o grupo.

Posso anunciar que Agostinho Oliveira vai mesmo mexer muito na equipa.
Scolari, como chefe do grupo, telefonou-lhe esta manhã, disse-lhe que não inteferia nas suas escolhas mas perguntou-lhe o que pensava fazer.
Agostinho respondeu que mantinha Vale na baliza. Depois, as mexidas: Filipe Oliveira entrará para lateral-direito, Zé Castro terá a companhia de Semedo na dupla de centrais e Diogo Valente alinhará na esquerda (como o Gilberto Farinha anteviu ), apostará apenas em dois homens no meio-campo (Raul Meireles e Manuel Fernandes). Varela renderá João Moutinho e jogará no flanco esquerdo, Nani passará para o eixo do ataque, no apoio a Hugo Almeida, e Quaresma continuará na direita.
Não pareceu que Scolari tivesse ficado muito satisfeito. É a impressão que ficou.

Eu pensaria já em soluções alternativas para o jogo com o Irão.
A experiência de Costinha parece-me preferível aos rasgões produzidos pelo Tiago.
A presença de Figo é importante para, a par de Deco e Ronaldo impor respeito, mas é o tipo de jogo em que usaria a pujança de Maniche.

E quando o adversário tem tempo de se organizar defensivamente, aí fica difícil”, disse Löw, ao comentar a saída de jogo dos defensores.
Atualmente, os zagueiros alemães estão preocupados apenas em destruir e não em agir de forma construtiva, armando a saída de bola. “Queremos que a primeira ação seja mais profunda, não apenas um toque de lado ou, em último caso, de volta para o goleiro”, avisou Löw.
Segundo o auxiliar de Klinsmann, outros times têm um desempenho padrão na forma de atuação da defesa. Ele cita a Espanha, a Itália e a Holanda, que utilizam a mesma tática defensiva desde as categorias de base até a seleção principal. “Alguns países estão anos na nossa frente", admitiu.
Para Löw, o exemplo a ser seguido é o do Milan dos anos 90, com Baresi, Costacurta, Maldini e Rijkaard. L'attaquant et capitaine du Paris-SG Pauleta a prolongé son contrat d'un an avec le club de la capitale, qui a diffusé un communiqué jeudi pour officialiser la nouvelle. Le meilleur buteur du Championnat (21 buts) est lié avec le PSG, jusqu'au 30 juin 2008. Cet événement veut dire que le Portugais ne rejoindra pas Lyon malgré les surenchères effectuées ces derniers jours par le champion de France.
Cette prolongation, qui lie Pauleta au PSG jusqu'à ses 35 ans, est assortie d'une revalorisation salariale dont le montant n'a pas été rendu public. Para os portugueses que estão fora isto é muito triste.

Quando toda a estratégia de uma equipa se resume a fazer chegar a bola por alto à cabeça de um jogador incrustado na área acontece o que se viu.
A selecção portuguesa não fez uma só jogada envolvente nem uma virada de ritmo nem um contragolpe.
Não se viu uma jogada trabalhada.
Não se viu que a lição tivesse sido estudada.
Não se viu comando.

A qualidade futebolística dos nossos esperanças não está em causa, em causa está a sua prestação nos últimos jogos (França e Servia), Agostinho têm muitas responsabilidades nestas duas derrotas, a sua capacidade de liderança, onde está?! A capacidade de passar a cada elemento dos onze que entram de inicio (e restantes) a sua tarefa, como forma de organizar jogo e delinear a estratégia a seguir, não basta colocar onze bons jogadores em campo, senão qualquer um de nos poderia desempenhar essa competência, o grupo português jogou grande parte do jogo com o coração, resultado do trabalho técnico que deixa a desejar, esperava mais deste grupo que têm capacidade para muito melhor.

A derrota dos Sub 21 demonstra a razão de scolari. Ele faz convocações que parecem discutíveis mas ele, que ganha, sabe que para vencer é preciso ter uma equipa e não uma salada de estrelas.

Se ainda era preciso tirar dúvidas, os jogadores e o treinador da selecção portuguesa devem ter ficado ontem com elas desfeitas: mais importante do que ter boas individualidades é ter uma boa equipa. E, nesse capítulo, Portugal foi claramente inferior.

Quase não se viu um automatismo, uma jogada estudada, um livre ou um canto bem marcados, jogou-se a passo. As escassas oportunidades foram desperdiçadas: as de Nani e de Hugo Almeida, escandalosas. Por estes dois jogos, só um jogador justificava a ida aos AA, precisamente Bruno Vale, que deve ir mais cedo para o estágio de Évora.

Os números dão bem conta da indigência futebolística dos sub21 portugueses: nem um golo em 180 minutos! Ou melhor: marcar, marcaram, mas na própria baliza.

A derrota dos sub-21 foi MERECIDA. os únicos a não merecerem esta derrota foram somente os portugueses que sempre acreitaram neste grupo de trabalho. Não vale a pena andarmos a fazer contas, pois se continuarmos a jogar desta forma é impossível.
Este Agostinho Oliveira, nem em sonhos tem o Know-How para liderar um escalão como a selecção de esperanças.
No primeiro jogo ficou bem demonstrado que ele, nem coragem nem ambição tem, pois a perder com a frança ao intervalo so teria (mesmo no inicio da segumda parte)de jogar com 3 centrais reforçar o meio campo adiantando. Juntava o Varela nas sobras, do HAlmeida, Nani e Quaresma nas alas, meireles como fazia no FCP (+junto aos centrais)Moutinho como fazia no SCP (mais junto aos atacantes e MFernandes no centro (como fazia no SLB).
H almeida e Varela como sempre jogaram no campeonato, com apoio na frente tanto no FCP como no V.Setúbal.
Agora o seleccionador não ve isto e ainda por cima inventa.
No jogo de ontem, e quando no 11 inicial constei que não estava o J.Moutinho previ o pior.
E assim nem vale a pena comentar...

os nossos sub21
vaidosos e pouco disoniveis para fazer mais em cada momento do jogo.
os nossos sub21 são aqueles que jogam no slb, scp, fcp e londres. se mudassem de clube caso do joao pereira já não servem para a selecção. quanto ao sistema tactico parece que jogam sobre carris, sempre a direito.
por ultimo,pretendiamos ganhar por 3-0 do mesmo modo como tinhamos perdido os jogos anteriores.
a mudança deve acontecer, as quintas dentro da selecção nacional devem acabar.
como so agora tive conhecimento deste site, quero dizer que o mr do fcp tb não gosta do vitor baia tal como o mr de portugal.
